Belgium has produced some successful tennis players in recent years. Here are some of them:
Kim Clijsters - She is a former World No. 1 and a four-time Grand Slam singles champion. She won the US Open in 2005, 2009, and 2010 and the Australian Open in 2011. She retired from tennis in 2007, came back in 2009, retired again in 2012 and made another comeback in 2020.
Justine Henin - She was also a former World No. 1 and a seven-time Grand Slam singles champion. She won the French Open four times, the US Open twice and the Australian Open once. Henin retired from tennis in 2008 but made a brief comeback in 2010.
David Goffin - He is currently the highest-ranked Belgian tennis player in the world (as of August 2021). He has won four ATP singles titles and reached the quarterfinals of the French Open and Wimbledon in 2019.
Yanina Wickmayer - She is a former Top 20 player who has won five WTA singles titles. She reached the semifinals at the US Open in 2009.
Elise Mertens - She has won six WTA singles titles, including the Moroccan Open and Qatar Total Open, both in 2019. She has also won five WTA doubles titles and reached the semifinals of the Australian Open in doubles in 2017.
Steve Darcis - He is a former Top 40 player who has won two ATP singles titles and reached the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2013.
Kirsten Flipkens - She has won one WTA singles title and reached the semifinals of Wimbledon in 2013.
Overall, Belgium has had a strong presence in women's tennis, particularly in the early 2000s when Clijsters and Henin were dominating the sport. However, the country has produced a number of successful male players as well in recent years.
